Vibrotactile feedback

Also known as: Tactile vibration, Haptic vibration

A form of haptic feedback that uses mechanical vibrations applied to the skin to convey information through the sense of touch. Vibrotactile actuators can communicate directional cues, alerts, patterns, and intensity levels without relying on vision or hearing. In accessibility applications, vibrotactile feedback is used in navigation aids for blind users, sound-awareness devices for Deaf and Hard of Hearing users, and notification systems for people in sensory-overload environments.
