Disability disclosure

Also known as: Self-disclosure

The process by which a person with a disability chooses to reveal information about their condition to others, whether in the workplace, social settings, or digital environments. Disclosure decisions are complex, involving considerations of stigma, accommodation needs, safety, and personal identity. In digital and virtual contexts, inclusive design can support disclosure agency by giving users control over when and how their disability is represented, such as through togglable avatar signifiers or optional profile indicators.
