Indoor navigation

Also known as: Indoor wayfinding, Indoor positioning

Technologies and design strategies that help people orient themselves and find their way within buildings and enclosed spaces such as airports, hospitals, and shopping centres. Unlike outdoor navigation which relies on GPS, indoor navigation often uses Bluetooth beacons, Wi-Fi positioning, visual landmarks, or augmented reality. For people with visual impairments, accessible indoor navigation must address not just route-finding but also interaction at points of interest such as queues, service counters, and dynamic signage.
