NFC

Also known as: Near Field Communication

A short-range wireless communication technology that enables data exchange between devices held within a few centimetres of each other. NFC is built into most modern smartphones and can read passive NFC tags embedded in objects. In accessibility applications, NFC tags can be attached to physical objects to provide audio identification, instructions, or contextual information when scanned — enabling blind users to identify otherwise indistinguishable items such as electronic components, medications, clothing, or food products without requiring visual labels.
