Occupational therapy
Also known as: OT
A healthcare profession focused on enabling people to participate in meaningful daily activities ("occupations") despite physical, cognitive, sensory, or psychosocial challenges. Occupational therapists assess individuals' functional abilities, recommend assistive technology, adapt environments, and teach compensatory strategies to maximise independence in activities like self-care, work, education, and leisure. OT is a critical bridge between clinical rehabilitation and real-world accessibility, as therapists often serve as the primary professionals who match individuals with assistive devices and train them in their use.
