Gamified evaluation
Also known as: Game-based assessment, Gamified testing
A research methodology that incorporates game design elements — such as challenges, scoring, progressive difficulty, and rewards — into the evaluation of technology or user performance, to increase participant engagement, motivation, and retention. In accessibility research, gamified evaluation is particularly valuable for enabling unsupervised, scalable testing with large participant numbers that are otherwise difficult to achieve. By making the evaluation process enjoyable and self-directed, researchers can distribute the testing application widely and collect data without requiring in-person supervision for each participant.
