Remote therapy
Also known as: Teletherapy, Telepractice, Telerehabilitation
The delivery of therapeutic interventions — including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation — through technology-mediated communication rather than exclusively in-person sessions. Remote therapy systems typically combine a client-facing application (often gamified for child engagement), automated assessment tools that provide interim feedback, and a clinician dashboard for monitoring progress and adapting treatment plans. Remote therapy addresses critical access barriers including SLP shortages, geographic distance, scheduling constraints, and the need for high-frequency practice that cannot be sustained through clinic visits alone.
