Accessible parking
Also known as: Disability parking, Handicapped parking, Reserved parking
Designated parking spaces that meet specific design requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and similar regulations to ensure equitable access for people with disabilities. Accessible parking spaces must have minimum dimensions, adjacent access aisles for wheelchair deployment and mobility device maneuvering, clear signage with the International Symbol of Accessibility, and accessible routes connecting the space to building entrances. The ADA requires 4-8% of total public parking capacity to be designated as accessible, with a proportion of those being van-accessible spaces with greater width and vertical clearance.
