Video accessibility

Also known as: Accessible video, Video a11y

The practice of making video content perceivable, operable, and understandable for people with disabilities. This encompasses captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers, audio descriptions for blind users, visual enhancements for low-vision users, and controls that work with assistive technologies. Video accessibility extends beyond adding captions to include ensuring all meaningful visual information — such as on-screen text, instructor actions, and spatial references — is conveyed through accessible means.
