Personalized accessibility
Also known as: Customizable accessibility, Adaptive accessibility
An approach to accessibility that allows users to configure assistive features according to their individual needs, preferences, and abilities rather than providing a single fixed accommodation. Personalized accessibility recognizes that disabilities — particularly conditions like low vision — are highly heterogeneous, and what works well for one user may not work for another. Examples include adjustable magnification levels, configurable color contrast, customizable text sizes, and user-selected interaction modes. This approach aligns with the principle that effective accessibility often requires flexibility rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.
