Non-Visual Feedback
Also known as: Non-Visual Output, Alternative Sensory Feedback
Any system output or response that does not rely on vision to be perceived, including auditory cues (speech, tones, sonification), haptic feedback (vibrations, force), and tactile output (braille, raised surfaces). Non-visual feedback is essential for making interactive systems accessible to blind and low vision users, and its design must consider timing, modality preferences, cognitive load, and the ability to convey both discrete events and continuous information. Effective non-visual feedback often combines multiple modalities to provide redundant, verifiable information.
