Braille Display
Also known as: Braille Terminal, Refreshable Braille Display
An electromechanical device that displays braille characters using small pins that raise and lower dynamically, enabling blind users to read digital text through touch. Traditional braille displays present a single line of braille text (typically 14-80 characters) and are primarily used as output devices for screen readers. They differ from refreshable tactile displays in that braille displays present text characters in a linear format, while tactile displays present two-dimensional graphics across a larger pin array. Braille displays are essential assistive technology for deaf-blind users who cannot access audio-based screen readers, and are widely used in education and professional settings.
