Sequential Presentation
Also known as: Step-by-Step Presentation, Progressive Disclosure
An information delivery method that reveals content incrementally in a structured sequence rather than presenting it all at once. In accessible education, sequential presentation is particularly effective for blind users because tactile perception is inherently sequential — touch must explore surfaces piece by piece, unlike vision which can grasp an entire image at a glance. Research on tactile data comics shows that breaking complex graphics into progressive frames that build upon each other significantly improves comprehension compared to presenting the complete graphic statically. However, sequential presentation can increase cognitive load as users must mentally integrate each new frame with previously presented content.
