Cerebral Palsy

Also known as: CP

A group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood, caused by abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain that control movement, balance, and posture. Cerebral palsy affects approximately 1 million people in the United States, with symptoms including muscle weakness, spasms, coordination difficulties, chronic pain, and challenges with speech and language. CP can make standard computer tasks like typing and mouse use difficult, leading many individuals to rely on assistive technologies including AAC devices, adapted input methods, and voice control.
