Bodymind Barrier

Also known as: Bodymind Access Barrier

A type of access barrier where performing a task leads to an undesirable physical or mental state, such as pain, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, anxiety, or sensory overload. The task may be technically completable without distress, but existing approaches cause the person's bodymind to move to an uncomfortable state. Technology addressing bodymind barriers helps users achieve a more preferable physical or mental state while completing tasks—for example, noise-canceling headphones for sensory regulation, or ergonomic tools that reduce pain during repetitive tasks.
