Virtual Reality

Also known as: VR

An immersive technology that creates a fully computer-generated environment, replacing the user's view of the real world with a simulated one. VR is typically experienced through a head-mounted display that tracks head and body movements to update the virtual scene in real time. In accessibility contexts, VR has been used for rehabilitation, social skills training, exposure therapy, and creating controlled sensory environments. VR accessibility itself is an emerging concern, as many VR applications lack features for users with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.
