Telescopic Magnifier
Also known as: Bioptic Telescope, Telescopic Glasses
A small telescope mounted in or attached to eyeglasses that provides magnification for viewing distant or intermediate-distance objects. Telescopic magnifiers are used by people with low vision for tasks like reading sheet music, watching performances, or reading signs. While they enable magnification without requiring proximity to the material, they have a narrow field of view, can cause poor posture when used for extended periods, and may result in loss of focus when looking away and back. Some musicians combine telescopic magnifiers with tablets for sheet music reading.
