Peer Mentoring

Also known as: Peer Support, Peer Tutoring

A support relationship where individuals with shared experiences provide guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance to one another, typically in informal or semi-structured settings. For ADHD students in higher education, peer mentoring from other ADHD students is particularly valuable because peers understand the specific challenges of managing ADHD in academic settings in ways that neurotypical mentors or institutional support staff may not. Peer mentoring for ADHD students may include short-term academic guidance via Discord or Zoom, emotional support around executive functioning challenges, and sharing strategies for managing ADHD symptoms.
