Music Notation Accessibility
The practice of making written music scores perceivable and usable by musicians with visual impairments and other disabilities. This encompasses the creation of alternative formats like Braille Music, Modified Stave Notation, and large print music, as well as the development of accessible digital score-reading tools, music scanning and recognition technologies, and accommodations for performance environments. Music notation accessibility involves both the intrinsic properties of scores and extrinsic factors like lighting, instrument ergonomics, and social dynamics.
