Research Through Design
Also known as: RtD
A research methodology in which the design process itself serves as a mode of inquiry, generating knowledge through the iterative creation and evaluation of artifacts, systems, or experiences. Unlike traditional research that studies existing phenomena, Research Through Design produces new knowledge by designing and reflecting on real-world interventions. In accessibility research, RtD is valuable because it allows researchers to develop and test accessible solutions in authentic contexts while simultaneously generating insights about user needs and design principles.
