Creative Agency

Also known as: Creative Autonomy, Creative Control

The ability of an individual to make independent creative decisions, express personal aesthetic preferences, and maintain ownership over the creative process and its outcomes. For blind individuals, creative agency in visual media is often limited by inaccessible tools, reliance on sighted intermediaries, and the assumption that visual creativity is inherently a sighted activity. Supporting creative agency means providing the information and controls needed for blind creators to make their own aesthetic choices, rather than automating decisions on their behalf.
