Visual Aesthetics

Also known as: Aesthetic Quality, Visual Appeal

The subjective qualities of visual content that contribute to its perceived beauty, mood, style, and emotional impact, including elements like color harmony, composition, lighting, contrast, and overall visual coherence. In accessibility contexts, conveying visual aesthetics to blind users through non-visual means (language descriptions, audio cues, haptic feedback) is a significant challenge because aesthetic qualities are inherently subjective and culturally situated. AI-powered aesthetic feedback tools attempt to bridge this gap but face limitations in conveying nuance and may introduce biases.
