Psychoeducation

The process of providing education about a mental health condition, its symptoms, treatment options, and management strategies to individuals with the condition and their support networks. For OCD, psychoeducation helps people understand the nature of obsessions and compulsions, the rationale behind exposure therapy, and how family members can support recovery without inadvertently reinforcing compulsive behaviors. Psychoeducation is a critical component of OCD treatment and can be integrated into self-management technologies to improve public awareness and reduce stigma.
