Flexible Work

Also known as: Flexible Work Arrangements, Flexible Employment

Work arrangements that allow variation in schedule, location, pace, or structure, including remote work, flexible hours, part-time options, and self-directed work. For many disabled people, flexible work is not a perk but a fundamental accessibility requirement, as rigid schedules and fixed locations may be incompatible with managing chronic conditions, medical appointments, energy fluctuations, or mobility limitations. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that widespread flexible work is feasible, yet many employers have reversed remote work policies, re-creating barriers for disabled workers who had briefly experienced greater workplace accessibility.
