Interaction Paradigm
Also known as: Interaction Method, Input Paradigm
A model or approach for how users interact with a system, encompassing the input devices, techniques, and patterns of engagement. In VR, common interaction paradigms include controller-based input, hand tracking, gaze-based interaction, and voice commands. Each paradigm has different accessibility profiles: controllers require grip and fine motor control, hand tracking requires camera visibility and sufficient range of motion, and voice may not work for all users. Accessibility best practice calls for supporting multiple interaction paradigms simultaneously so users can choose or switch based on their abilities, preferences, and the application context.
