Physical Disability
Also known as: Motor Disability, Physical Impairment
A condition that affects a person's physical functioning, mobility, dexterity, or stamina. Physical disabilities include conditions such as paralysis, amputation, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis. In technology and VR accessibility, physical disability affects the ability to use standard hardware (keyboards, mice, controllers, head-mounted displays), engage in body-centric interactions, and sustain physical engagement over time. The range of physical disabilities is extremely diverse, meaning that accessibility solutions must be flexible and customizable rather than one-size-fits-all.
