Inclusive Design Process
A design approach that intentionally includes diverse users, particularly those with disabilities and from marginalized communities, throughout all stages of product development. An inclusive design process goes beyond accessible materials to consider the entire ecosystem of participation: how invitations are issued, how spaces are arranged, how roles are defined, how power dynamics are managed, and how contributions are valued and documented. In the context of blind users, an inclusive design process ensures that participants lead the creative work while support personnel facilitate without directing, and that the workshop structure itself (not just the materials) is designed for non-visual participation.
