For blind and low vision users, VAPAs offer hands-free interaction that bypasses many visual interface barriers, making them valuable for tasks like calendar management and smart home control. However, current VAPAs have significant limitations for accessibility: they struggle with complex multi-step tasks, lose context across conversations, misinterpret commands in noisy environments, and lack robust error correction mechanisms. Research suggests VAPAs work best as complements to screen readers rather than replacements.
