Calendar Accessibility
Also known as: Accessible Scheduling
The degree to which calendar applications and scheduling tools can be effectively used by people with disabilities, particularly blind and low vision users who rely on screen readers. Calendar accessibility challenges include visual grid layouts that are difficult to navigate with screen readers, inaccessible date pickers, inconsistent focus order when tabbing through elements, missing form labels, modal dialogs that trap screen reader focus, and limited keyboard navigation support. These barriers have significant professional consequences, as calendar management is essential for workplace participation. Accessible calendar design should prioritize list-based views over grids, clear information hierarchy, keyboard navigability, screen reader compatibility, and voice command integration.
