Context Retention

The ability of a voice assistant or AI system to maintain awareness of previous interactions and use that information to interpret subsequent commands correctly. In calendar accessibility, context retention is important because scheduling tasks often involve multi-turn conversations—a user might say "Schedule a meeting at 2pm" followed by "Add John to it" or "Make it recurring." Current voice assistants tend to treat each command as isolated, losing the context of previous interactions, which forces users to repeat information and increases the chance of errors. Improving context retention is essential for VAPAs to support the complex, multi-step scheduling workflows that BLV users need.
