Technology Dependency
Also known as: Tech Dependency, Digital Dependency
The state of relying on technology to perform tasks that one might otherwise accomplish independently, or the risk that technology use persists beyond the original need. In disability and accessibility contexts, technology dependency raises complex questions: reliance on assistive technology is a normal and expected part of disability access, but concerns arise when temporary technology use (such as AI tools during recovery from illness) continues after the access need diminishes, blurring the line between accommodation and habit.
