Research Ethics
Also known as: Ethics in Research
The principles and practices governing the responsible conduct of research, including informed consent, minimizing harm, protecting privacy, and ensuring equitable treatment of participants. In disability research, ethics considerations include power dynamics between researchers and participants, the risk of exploitative research that does not benefit disabled communities, and questions about who has the authority to produce knowledge about disability. Autoethnographic approaches address some ethical concerns by centering the researcher's own experience rather than studying others.
