Text Modification

Also known as: Text Formatting, Text Presentation Modification

Changes to the visual presentation or formatting of text to improve readability without altering the actual content. Text modifications include adjustments to font type, size, color, spacing, line height, background color, text alignment, and column width. Research with people with dyslexia has shown that certain fonts (sans serif, monospaced, Roman), warm background colors (peach, orange, yellow), and configurable presentation settings can significantly improve reading performance. Text modification is distinct from text simplification, which changes the linguistic content.
