Skimming Interface
Also known as: Skim Reading Tool, Speed Reading Interface
A technology interface designed to help users quickly scan and identify relevant content within a text without reading every word. Skimming interfaces have been particularly explored for blind and low vision users who use screen readers, where linear reading can be extremely time-consuming. Approaches include audio-based skimming using concurrent speech channels, touch-based navigation gestures, summary generation, and adjustable screen reader speed based on content relevance. Skimming support is also relevant for people with dyslexia who experience reduced reading speed.
