Distraction Control

Also known as: Distraction Filtering, Focus Mode

Features or tools that help users suppress distracting content on web pages to maintain focus on their primary task. Distraction control ranges from manual tools (like Apple's Distraction Control in Safari, which lets users select elements to hide) to automated systems that use AI to identify and suppress task-irrelevant content. For screen reader users, distraction control through content filtering can halve task completion times by eliminating irrelevant elements from sequential navigation. For sighted users, it reduces cognitive load by decluttering visual interfaces.
