Task Automation

Also known as: Web Task Automation, Browser Automation

The use of software agents or scripts to automatically perform web-based tasks on behalf of users, such as filling forms, making purchases, or extracting information. Task automation in accessibility contexts promises to reduce the effort required for screen reader users to complete complex web tasks, but current approaches have significant limitations: they tend to focus on clickable elements while missing important non-interactive content, they struggle with unfamiliar or dynamic websites, and their errors are difficult for assistive technology users to detect and recover from.
