WCAG Compliance

Also known as: WCAG Conformance, Web Accessibility Compliance

The degree to which a website or web application meets the requirements specified in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). WCAG defines three conformance levels (A, AA, AAA) with increasingly stringent criteria. Full WCAG compliance is rare — large-scale audits find that over 95% of the top million websites have detectable failures. Common violations include missing alternative text, insufficient color contrast, missing form labels, and improper heading structure. While compliance is an important baseline, it does not guarantee a good user experience for people with disabilities.
