Android Accessibility
Also known as: Android A11y
The accessibility features, APIs, and design guidelines built into the Android operating system that enable people with disabilities to use Android devices. Android accessibility includes TalkBack (screen reader), Switch Access, Voice Access, magnification, display adjustments, and APIs that allow third-party applications to support assistive technology interaction. The open nature of Android and the availability of low-cost Android devices make the platform particularly important for assistive technology in the Global South, though Android version fragmentation and varying hardware capabilities across devices create challenges for developers of accessibility applications.
