Braille Textbook
Also known as: Braille Book, Braille Edition
A textbook transcribed into Braille for use by students and teachers who are blind. Braille textbooks are significantly larger and more expensive to produce than print textbooks, often requiring multiple volumes for a single print book. In India, government-provided Braille textbooks frequently arrive late in the academic year — sometimes months after the school year begins — forcing teachers to rely on personal knowledge and external resources to prepare lessons. The delayed delivery of Braille textbooks is one of the most persistent systemic barriers in education for students with vision impairments.
