Confidence Score
Also known as: Confidence Rating, Certainty Score
A numerical measure output by AI systems indicating how certain the system is about a particular result or classification. While confidence scores have been proposed as a way to help users assess AI accuracy, research with blind participants has found them difficult to interpret meaningfully. Scores can be misleading — conveying high confidence despite false predictions — and offer less rich information than descriptive assessment approaches for helping blind users evaluate AI output.
