Privacy by Design
Also known as: PbD
A framework that embeds privacy protections into the design and architecture of systems and business practices from the outset, rather than adding them as afterthoughts. In the context of visual assistance technologies, privacy by design encompasses on-device processing, data minimization, transparent data handling, and user control over what visual content is captured and shared. Research with blind users suggests that privacy tools should be designed as independent modules outside of VAT to build trust through separation of concerns.
