Cross-Referencing

Also known as: Verification by Comparison

A strategy used by blind people to verify AI output by comparing information from multiple sources or against prior personal knowledge. In the context of privacy tools, participants suggested that assessment descriptors describing multiple objects in a familiar space would enable cross-referencing with their existing knowledge of that environment, helping them detect errors. More broadly, blind users cross-reference AI descriptions across different applications, compare results with their own experience, or ask AI systems to provide evidence for their claims.
