Collaborative Learning
Also known as: Cooperative Learning
An educational approach involving two or more individuals working together to build knowledge or skills through interaction, information sharing, and joint problem-solving. In sign language education, collaborative learning aligns with social constructivist and sociocultural theories emphasizing that learners co-construct knowledge through interactions with more knowledgeable individuals. Technology-enhanced collaborative learning enriches language input, expands opportunities, and increases engagement, and is particularly beneficial for hearing families learning ASL with their DHH children.
