Purposive Sampling

Also known as: Purposeful Sampling, Judgment Sampling

A non-probability sampling method in which researchers deliberately select participants based on specific characteristics relevant to the research questions. In accessibility research, purposive sampling is commonly used to recruit participants with particular disabilities, levels of technology experience, or demographic characteristics. While purposive sampling allows researchers to target specific populations, it requires transparency about selection criteria and potential biases, and must be balanced with efforts to ensure diversity within the selected population.
