Sensory Aid

Also known as: Sensory Assistive Device

Assistive technologies that translate sensory inputs into alternative modalities to support people with sensory disabilities in the workplace and daily life. Examples include screen readers (visual to auditory), captioning systems (auditory to visual), haptic feedback devices (visual or auditory to tactile), and refreshable Braille displays (visual to tactile). While sensory aids can significantly improve autonomy, situational awareness, communication, and productivity, their effectiveness depends on work environments and processes being designed to support their use.
