SHT Liaison
Also known as: Smart Home Technology Liaison
A role identified in accessibility research where a non-disabled person—often a caregiver, family member, or friend—takes responsibility for researching, setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining smart home technology on behalf of a disabled user. Unlike the pilot-passenger model where the pilot lives in the home, the SHT liaison may not reside with the user, creating challenges around ongoing maintenance, system updates, and the disabled user's limited direct control over their own technology.
