Procedural Task Tracking

Also known as: Task Progress Tracking, Step Tracking

The automated monitoring of a user's progress through a multi-step task, identifying which steps have been completed, which are in progress, and which remain. In accessibility contexts, procedural task tracking enables assistive systems to provide context-sensitive guidance rather than static instructions, answering questions like "What step am I on?" or "Have I already done this?" Effective tracking for disabled users must accommodate non-linear workflows, skipped steps, and personalized strategies rather than assuming rigid sequential execution.
