Neuroinclusive Design
Also known as: Neurodiverse Design, Neurodiversity-Affirming Design
A design approach that explicitly accounts for the varied cognitive, sensory, and communication needs of neurodivergent individuals alongside neurotypical users. Neuroinclusive design goes beyond general accessibility by addressing specific patterns such as different information processing styles, sensory sensitivities, preferences for predictability and structure, alternative communication approaches, and non-linear career or life trajectories. In AI systems, neuroinclusive design means ensuring that training data, prompts, and outputs reflect neurodivergent perspectives rather than imposing neurotypical norms.
