Playification
A design strategy that transforms routine or clinical tasks into playful, engaging experiences without relying solely on competitive game mechanics like points and leaderboards. Unlike gamification, which adds game elements to non-game contexts, playification emphasizes enjoyment, creativity, and exploration as intrinsic motivators. In health and accessibility contexts, playification can make activities like blood pressure monitoring or medication tracking feel less burdensome by embedding them within narrative, social, or creative interactions that align with users’ cultural values and daily routines.
