Social Support Behavioral Code
Also known as: SSBC
A classification framework used in health and social science research to categorize types of support exchanged between individuals. The SSBC identifies five categories of social support: informational (advice and guidance), emotional (empathy and caring), tangible (practical assistance), esteem (validation and encouragement), and network (connection to others with shared experiences). In accessibility research, the framework helps analyze how people with disabilities seek and receive support in online communities, revealing patterns in what types of help are most needed and most effectively provided.
